Home > Outside Sales Representative

Outside sales workers, also called sales representatives, are the most skilled workers and one of the largest occupations in wholesale trade. They travel to places of business-whether manufacturers, retailers, or institutions-to maintain contact with current customers or to attract new ones. They make presentations to buyers and management or may demonstrate items to production supervisors.

Part of the earnings of some workers is based on performance, especially in the case of outside sales workers, who frequently receive commissions on their sales. Although many sales workers receive a base salary in addition to commission, some receive compensation based solely on sales revenue.
